Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
