Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
