Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? (1) [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, (2) Laboring, toiling, (3) They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire (4) The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, (5) They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit (6) Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. (7) [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. (8) well pleased with their striving, (9) They will live in an exalted garden (10) Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. (11) In it there shall be a flowing spring, (12) and couches raised high, (13) and goblets laid out, (14) And arranged carpets. (15) and rich carpets levelled out. (16) Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? (17) how heaven was lifted up, (18) And the mountains, how they were fixed; (19) And how the earth was outstretched? (20) Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. (21) You are not a watcher over them; (22) As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, (23) God will punish them with the greatest torment. (24) Truly, to Us is their return; (25) Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. (26)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
