The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); (1) How will you comprehend what the night star is? (2) It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- (3) No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. (4) Let man consider what he was made of: (5) He is created from a gushing fluid (6) issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: (7) Most surely He is able to return him (to life). (8) on the Day when consciences are examined, (9) He will have no strength or helper. (10) By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. (11) and the replenishing earth, (12) this is indeed a Decisive Word, (13) It is no pleasantry. (14) Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. (15) And I (too) am planning a plan. (16) So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. (17)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
