The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); (1) How will you comprehend what the night star is? (2) (It is) the piercing star. (3) [for] no human being has been left unguarded. (4) So let man consider of what he is created: (5) He is created from a water gushing forth. (6) that issues from between the loins and the ribs. (7) Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) (8) The day all secrets are examined (9) Then will he have no might nor any helper. (10) By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. (11) and the earth, bursting forth with plants! (12) BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, (13) and is not to be taken lightly. (14) Surely they will make a scheme, (15) And I (too) will make a scheme. (16) So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. (17)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
