The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! (1) - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! (2) It is the star shining brightly. (3) There is no soul but has a protector over it. (4) Now let man but think from what he is created! (5) He is created from a water dripping, (6) Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: (7) Most surely He is able to return him (to life). (8) On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. (9) when he will be helpless, with no supporter. (10) By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, (11) by the earth cracking open with new growth. (12) BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, (13) And it is no joke. (14) They are hatching up a plot, (15) but I too plan against them. (16) So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. (17)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
