The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
