The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
