The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder (1) and obeys its Lord as it must, (2) And when the earth is stretched, (3) And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, (4) and obeys its Lord as it must, (5) O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. (6) Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, (7) Will have an easy reckoning, (8) and shall return to his people joyfully. (9) But as for he who is given his record behind his back, (10) he will pray for utter destruction (11) They will suffer the heat of hell fire. (12) Once, he lived joyfully among his family (13) for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. (14) Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. (15) I swear by the twilight; (16) by the night and what it covers, (17) and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: (18) [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. (19) So, wherefore do they not believe? (20) and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ (21) Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. (22) God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. (23) So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, (24) except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. (25)
Almighty God's Truth.
