The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, (1) and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; (2) When the earth is stretched out taut (3) And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, (4) and obeys its Lord as it must, (5) O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. (6) So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand (7) Will have an easy reckoning, (8) And he will return to his family rejoicing. (9) But he who is given his ledger from behind his back (10) Will pray for death, (11) And he shall roast into a Blaze. (12) Verily he was among his people joyous. (13) Verily he imagined that he would not be back. (14) Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! (15) So I swear by the twilight glow (16) And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, (17) And by oath of the moon when it is full. (18) you will progress from stage to stage. (19) So, wherefore do they not believe? (20) And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ (21) Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! (22) And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. (23) So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, (24) Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). (25)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
