The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
