The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder (1) And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. (2) when the earth is stretched out (3) and casts out all that is within and voids itself, (4) and obeys its Lord as it must, (5) O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. (6) Then whoso is given his account in his right hand (7) shall be called to an easy accounting, (8) and they will return to their people, delighted (9) But whoso is given his account behind his back, (10) shall cry for “perdition,” (11) And he will enter a Blazing Fire. (12) Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. (13) and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). (14) But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. (15) So I swear by the twilight glow (16) And the night and all it gathers, (17) And by oath of the moon when it is full. (18) [That] you will surely experience state after state. (19) What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? (20) And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ (21) In fact the disbelievers keep denying. (22) But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. (23) So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, (24) Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. (25)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
