83 The Cheaters
Al-Mutaffifeen
Juz 30
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters; (1) when they measure against the people, take full measure (2) But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. (3) Do they not think that they will be called to account?- (4) on a great day (5) a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? (6) NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! (7) And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? (8) A record of misdeeds written. (9) Ah the woe that day for those who deny, (10) those who deny the Day of Judgement. (11) Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; (12) When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' (13) No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. (14) Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; (15) Then they shall roast in Hell, (16) They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." (17) Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. (18) And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? (19) (It is) a marked Book, (20) which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. (21) Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, (22) On couches face to face. (23) You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. (24) They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). (25) pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: (26) and its mixture is Tasneem, (27) a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. (28) Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. (29) And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. (30) And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. (31) And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; (32) Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. (33) So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, (34) seated upon their couches, they are looking around. (35) "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" (36)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
