The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, (1) those who demand a full measure from others (2) And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (3) Do they not think that they will be resurrected (4) unto a mighty day (5) The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? (6) By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. (7) And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! (8) The record is a sealed text. (9) Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth (10) who cry lies to the Day of Doom; (11) Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, (12) When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” (13) Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! (14) On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. (15) and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire (16) Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' (17) But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- (18) But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? (19) It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed (20) witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). (21) Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). (22) On thrones, they shall gaze; (23) and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. (24) They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, (25) With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- (26) It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. (27) A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. (28) Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, (29) And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, (30) and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; (31) and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' (32) Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. (33) But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers (34) upon couches gazing. (35) Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? (36)
Almighty God's Truth.
