83 The Cheaters
Al-Mutaffifeen
Juz 30
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, (1) when they measure against the people, take full measure (2) But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (3) Do they not realise that they will be raised to life (4) Unto an Awful Day, (5) a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? (6) Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. (7) And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? (8) It is a written book. (9) Woe on that Day to those who belied it, (10) Those who deny the Day of Judgment (11) And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! (12) And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! (13) Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. (14) Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. (15) Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. (16) Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." (17) Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - (18) and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? (19) It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed (20) The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. (21) Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. (22) On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): (23) You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. (24) They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, (25) its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- (26) a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, (27) a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. (28) The sinners had been laughing at the believers. (29) And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. (30) And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. (31) And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" (32) though they were not sent to be their keepers -- (33) But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: (34) as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). (35) Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? (36)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
