The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, (1) Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, (2) but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! (3) Do those not think that they shall be raised up (4) on a Great Day, (5) A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? (6) Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. (7) And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? (8) It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. (9) Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth (10) who cry lies to the Day of Doom; (11) And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. (12) When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" (13) No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. (14) No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. (15) Then they shall roast in Hell, (16) Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' (17) Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. (18) And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? (19) (It is) a marked Book, (20) witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. (21) Verily the pious will be in heaven, (22) reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). (23) Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. (24) They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, (25) whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- (26) And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, (27) A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. (28) Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, (29) And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); (30) and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; (31) And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. (32) Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. (33) On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers (34) On thrones, they will look. (35) Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? (36)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
