The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, (1) those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full (2) but when they measure or weigh, give less. (3) Do they not realise that they will be raised to life (4) on a great day (5) a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? (6) Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. (7) What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! (8) It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. (9) Ah the woe that day for those who deny, (10) Those who belie the Day of Requital. (11) And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! (12) When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” (13) They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. (14) No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. (15) Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. (16) and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". (17) NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! (18) And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? (19) A Register inscribed. (20) Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. (21) Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: (22) On thrones, watching. (23) Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. (24) as they are given to drink of a wine sealed (25) pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: (26) And it is mixed with Tasneem. (27) A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. (28) The sinners laughed at the believers (29) when they passed by them they winked, (30) And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; (31) And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. (32) Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. (33) So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. (34) On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). (35) Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? (36)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
