The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, (1) when they measure against the people, take full measure (2) Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. (3) Do they not realize that they will be resurrected (4) On a grievous day, (5) The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? (6) No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. (7) And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! (8) The record is a sealed text. (9) Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth (10) those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. (11) for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: (12) who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” (13) They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. (14) No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. (15) and then they shall enter Hell, (16) whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” (17) No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; (18) What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! (19) It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed (20) which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. (21) Surely the pious shall be in bliss, (22) On thrones, looking (at all things). (23) thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss (24) They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, (25) Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - (26) and its mixture is Tasneem, (27) A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. (28) BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith (29) And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. (30) and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; (31) And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; (32) Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. (33) Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, (34) upon couches gazing. (35) Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? (36)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
