83 The Cheaters
Al-Mutaffifeen
Juz 30
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: (1) when they measure against the people, take full measure (2) But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. (3) Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? (4) on a great day (5) when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? (6) Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. (7) How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? (8) A written record. (9) Woe on that Day unto the beliers (10) Those who deny the Day of Recompense. (11) And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! (12) And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! (13) No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. (14) Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. (15) Then indeed they have to enter hell. (16) Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. (17) No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. (18) and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- (19) It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed (20) To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). (21) Verily the pious will be in heaven, (22) [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: (23) You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. (24) They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, (25) which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. (26) a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, (27) A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). (28) Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. (29) And wink one to another when they passed them; (30) And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; (31) and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," (32) But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). (33) But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: (34) while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). (35) Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. (36)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
