The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters; (1) who demand of other people full measure for themselves, (2) But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. (3) Do they not think that they will be resurrected (4) Unto an Awful Day, (5) The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? (6) Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. (7) Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - (8) A record [indelibly] inscribed! (9) Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. (10) Who deny the Day of Recompense. (11) Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; (12) who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". (13) No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. (14) No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, (15) then they shall roast in Hell. (16) They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." (17) Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. (18) And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? (19) It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). (20) witnessed by those brought nigh. (21) Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, (22) On adorned couches, observing. (23) You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. (24) Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: (25) Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. (26) a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, (27) A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. (28) The sinners had been laughing at the believers. (29) And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, (30) And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. (31) and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," (32) Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. (33) So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; (34) as they sit on couches, gazing around. (35) Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? (36)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
