The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], (1) Who insist on being given full when they take from others, (2) but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. (3) Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead (4) For a mighty day, (5) The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? (6) No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. (7) And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? (8) A Register inscribed. (9) Woe on that Day to those who belied it, (10) Who deny the Day of Recompense. (11) And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) (12) [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" (13) Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. (14) By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. (15) then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, (16) and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' (17) Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. (18) And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! (19) It is a Book inscribed, (20) Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. (21) Surely the pious shall be in bliss, (22) On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): (23) thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss (24) They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. (25) its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; (26) And it is mixed with Tasneem. (27) a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. (28) BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith (29) And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); (30) and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, (31) And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. (32) Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. (33) So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; (34) On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). (35) Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? (36)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
