The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) (1) those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full (2) And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (3) Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again (4) on a fateful Day. (5) The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? (6) No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. (7) and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? (8) A book inscribed. (9) Woe, that Day, to the deniers, (10) Those that deny the Day of Judgment. (11) And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) (12) When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." (13) No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. (14) Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; (15) Then they shall roast in Hell, (16) and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' (17) Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - (18) and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- (19) (It is) a marked Book, (20) Witnessed by those who are honoured. (21) Surely the pious shall be in bliss, (22) seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. (23) You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. (24) They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. (25) Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - (26) And mixed with water of Tasnim, (27) A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. (28) The sinners indeed laughed at believers (29) And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); (30) And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; (31) On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". (32) But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). (33) But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: (34) On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). (35) Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? (36)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
