The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: (1) those who demand a full measure from others (2) but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! (3) Do they not realize that they will be resurrected (4) On a Mighty Day, (5) a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? (6) No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! (7) And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? (8) A written record. (9) Woe on that Day to those who belied it, (10) those who deny the Day of Judgement. (11) And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) (12) When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" (13) Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. (14) Yes indeed they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. (15) and then they shall enter Hell, (16) It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” (17) Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. (18) And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? (19) A record [indelibly] inscribed, (20) To which bear witness those brought nigh. (21) Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; (22) On thrones, watching. (23) Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. (24) They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, (25) Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - (26) Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), (27) a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. (28) Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, (29) And winked at one another as they passed by them; (30) And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. (31) and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" (32) though they were not sent to be their keepers -- (33) So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, (34) as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). (35) Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? (36)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
