The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], (1) Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, (2) but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. (3) What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? (4) (To be raised) for a Great Day? (5) The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? (6) Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. (7) And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? (8) A Register inscribed. (9) Woe, that Day, to the deniers, (10) Those that deny the Day of Judgment. (11) And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. (12) who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". (13) Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. (14) No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. (15) and then they shall enter Hell, (16) Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. (17) But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- (18) But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? (19) It is a (repository of) distinctly written record (20) witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). (21) Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure (22) seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. (23) thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss (24) as they are given to drink of a wine sealed (25) pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: (26) And mixed with water of Tasnim, (27) a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. (28) Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, (29) and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; (30) And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; (31) And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. (32) Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. (33) So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, (34) On adorned couches, observing. (35) Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? (36)
Almighty God's Truth.
