83 The Cheaters
Al-Mutaffifeen
Juz 30
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: (1) Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, (2) But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (3) Do they not think that they will be resurrected (4) For a mighty day, (5) A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? (6) Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. (7) and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- (8) It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). (9) Ah the woe that day for those who deny, (10) and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. (11) And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. (12) When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” (13) Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. (14) Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, (15) They will suffer the heat of fire (16) It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” (17) Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. (18) And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? (19) (It is) a marked Book, (20) which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. (21) Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: (22) Reclining on couches, looking on. (23) You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. (24) They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, (25) Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - (26) And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: (27) A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. (28) Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, (29) when them passed them by winking at one another, (30) and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; (31) And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. (32) But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). (33) So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. (34) as they sit on couches, gazing around. (35) Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? (36)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
