He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) from a blind man who had come up to him. (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. (4) But the self-sufficient, (5) To him dost thou attend; (6) although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness (8) And whereas he fears, (9) to him thou payest no heed. (10) Assuredly this is a reminder (11) So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. (12) On honourable pages. (13) Exalted and holy, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) noble and most virtuous. (16) Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. (17) From what substance did He create him? (18) From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, (19) then the way eased for him, (20) Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. (21) Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. (22) But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. (23) Let man reflect on the food he eats. (24) It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, (25) and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, (26) And We made corn grow, (27) And grapes and clover, (28) Olives and dates, (29) the densely tree'd gardens, (30) And fruits and herbage: (31) A provision for you and your cattle. (32) When the trumpet sounds, (33) On that day man will run away from his brother. (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) And his wife and his children, (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) on that Day some faces will be beaming, (38) laughing and joyful, (39) And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, (40) enveloped by darkness. (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
