He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, (1) when the blind came to him. (2) But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), (5) Unto him thou payest regard. (6) though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) And whereas he fears, (9) So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) [borne] by the hands of messengers (15) noble and pious. (16) Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, (19) and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) then, when He wills, He raises him. (22) But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. (23) Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. (24) That We pour forth water in abundance, (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) how We made the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), (28) Olives and dates, (29) the densely tree'd gardens, (30) and fruits, and pastures, (31) For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (32) AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard (33) On the Day a man will flee from his brother (34) mother, father, (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) Some faces on that day will be radiant, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) some faces on that day shall be dusty (40) Blackness will cover them. (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
