He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away (1) Because the blind man came unto him. (2) You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, (3) (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. (4) As for he who is sufficed (5) To him you attend; (6) Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) And hath fear, (9) him didst thou disregard! (10) These verses are a reminder (11) so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. (12) (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, (13) Exalted and holy, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) Noble and righteous. (16) Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! (17) From what has God created him? (18) From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; (19) Then doth He make His path smooth for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and be buried (21) Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. (22) Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. (23) Let the human reflect on the food he eats, (24) How We poured down water in torrents, (25) Then split the earth in clefts (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and green fodder (28) And olives and date palms, (29) And enclosed gardens luxuriant. (30) And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) When the trumpet sounds, (33) On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, (34) and his mother and his father; (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy (37) Faces on that Day shall be beaming, (38) laughing and joyful, (39) And many will be dust-begrimed, (40) Veiled in darkness, (41) These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
