He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, (1) when the blind came to him. (2) How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, (3) Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? (4) As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, (5) you attended to him, (6) Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). (7) But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) of him you were unmindful. (10) By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, (13) Exalted, Purified, (14) by the hands of the noble, virtuous, (15) Honourable and Pious and Just. (16) Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! (17) From what has God created him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, (19) Then doth He make His path smooth for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and be buried (21) Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. (22) By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. (23) Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. (24) That We pour forth water in abundance, (25) and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; (26) Thereby produced grain in it. (27) And Grapes and nutritious plants, (28) olives, dates, (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) And fruits and fodder,- (31) for you and for your animals to enjoy. (32) AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard (33) The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) every man that day shall have business to suffice him. (37) Faces on that Day shall be beaming, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news; (39) And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. (40) Veiled in darkness, (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
