He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man. (2) But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified (3) Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? (4) As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient (5) Unto him thou attendest. (6) although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; (7) And for him who came to you striving, (8) and in awe [of God] (9) Him thou neglectest! (10) Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. (11) (and whoso wills, shall remember it) (12) It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) (Written) by the hands of scribes- (15) Noble, virtuous. (16) Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! (17) From what thing doth He create him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, (19) and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. (22) No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. (23) Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: (24) That We pour forth water in abundance, (25) And We split the earth in fragments, (26) Thereby produced grain in it. (27) grapes, and fresh fodder, (28) and olives and palms, (29) the densely tree'd gardens, (30) and fruits and pastures (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) But when the great calamity comes (33) On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (34) and from his mother and father, (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) laughing and joyful, (39) Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, (40) Dust shall cover them (41) These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
