He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because the blind man came unto him. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? (4) For him who does not care, (5) to a rich man, (6) though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. (7) And for him who came to you striving, (8) And hath fear, (9) You neglect. (10) Nay! surely it is an admonishment. (11) So whoever wishes may remember it. (12) (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, (13) exalted and purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Who are noble, virtuous. (16) Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! (17) Of what did He create him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, (19) Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) (20) then causes him to die and buries him, (21) and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. (22) Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. (23) Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. (24) We poured out the rains abundantly, (25) Then split the earth in clefts (26) how We made the grain to grow, (27) grapes, and fresh fodder, (28) And olive and palm trees (29) And garden-closes of thick foliage (30) And fruits and fodder,- (31) Provision for you and your cattle. (32) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (33) On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (34) and his mother and his father; (35) his wife and his children. (36) every man that day shall have business to suffice him. (37) Many faces will that day be bright, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (39) And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, (40) and overcast with gloom: (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
