He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? (4) As for he who is sufficed (5) Unto him thou attendest. (6) Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). (7) As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) Of him wast thou unmindful. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) So whoever wills may remember it. (12) (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, (13) Exalted, pure. (14) [borne] by the hands of messengers (15) noble, pious. (16) Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, (19) He makes his path easy for him. (20) and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; (21) and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. (22) Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. (23) Let Man consider his nourishment. (24) We send down abundant water, (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) then caused the grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and herbage, (28) Olives and dates, (29) thickly planted gardens, (30) And fruit and grass - (31) [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. (32) AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard (33) On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (34) and from his mother and father, (35) and from his spouse and his children: (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) Some faces will shine, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. (40) Darkness shall cover them. (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
