He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because a blind man came to him. (2) What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, (3) Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. (4) As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), (5) To him dost thou attend; (6) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (7) And as to him who comes to you striving hard, (8) and who has fear of God, (9) you pay him no heed. (10) NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Who are noble, virtuous. (16) Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! (17) From what thing doth He create him? (18) From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; (19) Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) (20) Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). (22) Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. (23) Then let man look at his food, (24) We poured out the rains abundantly, (25) Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, (26) and therein made the grains to grow (27) And grapes and herbage (28) And olive and palm trees (29) the densely tree'd gardens, (30) And fruits and grass, (31) an enjoyment for you and your flocks. (32) At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) And from his wife and sons. (36) Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). (37) Some faces will shine, (38) laughing, joyous; (39) Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, (40) Darkness will cover them, (41) They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
