He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attended to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
