He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. (2) And what do you know, he may be of the pure! (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? (4) As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient (5) To him you attend; (6) And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself (7) As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). (8) and in awe [of God] (9) you ignore him. (10) By no means! Verily it is an admonition. (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, (13) Exalted and holy, (14) By the hands of scribes. (15) Honourable and Pious and Just. (16) Perish man! how ungrateful he is! (17) Of what substance God created him? (18) From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, (19) Then doth He make His path smooth for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. (22) Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) That We watered it in abundance. (25) then We split the earth in fissures (26) And We made corn grow, (27) And grapes and clover, (28) And olives and palms (29) Orchards thick with trees, (30) and fruits, and pastures, (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- (33) on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, (34) Mother and father, (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. (37) Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). (38) Laughing and full of joy, (39) but some faces will be covered with dust (40) o'erspread with darkness -- (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. (42)
Almighty God's Truth.
