He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
