He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to a rich man, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
