Juz 30
He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, (1) Because the blind man came unto him. (2) You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, (3) or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) To him you give attention. (6) Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. (7) But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] (8) and in awe [of God] (9) of him you were unmindful. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) So let whosoever will pay heed to it, (12) It is set down on honoured pages, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) noble and virtuous scribes. (16) Perish Man! How unthankful he is! (17) Of what substance God created him? (18) Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, (19) and then makes it easy for him to go through life; (20) He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Then let man look to his food, (24) We let the rain pour down in torrents (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) And cause the grain to grow therein (27) And grapes and fodder, (28) And Olives and Dates, (29) and gardens dense with foliage, (30) And fruits and herbage: (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) When the trumpet sounds, (33) That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) As well as his wife and children. (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. (40) Darkness shall cover them. (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
