He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) when the blind came to him. (2) And what do you know, he may be of the pure! (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? (4) For him who does not care, (5) you attend to him, (6) Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). (7) And as to him who comes to you striving hard, (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! (10) Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). (13) Exalted, Purified, (14) Written by the hands of emissaries. (15) Honourable and obedient. (16) [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! (17) From what thing did He create him? (18) From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; (19) Then eased the way for him. (20) He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. (21) and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. (22) Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. (23) So man must look at his food. (24) For that We pour forth water in abundance, (25) Then We split the earth properly. (26) We make the grain grow out of it, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) and olive trees and date-palms, (29) And garden-closes of thick foliage (30) And fruits and grass, (31) In order to benefit you and your cattle. (32) Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), (33) upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) his wife and his sons: (36) for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. (37) [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - (38) laughing and joyful, (39) but some faces will be covered with dust (40) Covered with the blackness (of shame): (41) These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
