He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away (1) because the blind man approached him! (2) You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, (3) Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. (4) As for him who thinketh himself independent, (5) to him didst thou give thy whole attention, (6) What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). (7) And he who comes to thee eagerly (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) From him thou art distracted. (10) Assuredly this is a reminder (11) Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. (12) [It is recorded] in honored sheets, (13) exalted, purified, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) and angelic scribes. (16) Perish man! how ungrateful he is! (17) Out of what did Allah create him? (18) From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. (19) and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. (20) then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, (21) and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. (22) But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. (23) Then let man look at his food, (24) How We pour water in showers (25) and let the earth to break open (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and green fodder (28) and olives and palms, (29) thickly planted gardens, (30) and fruits and herbage, (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) And his wife and his children, (36) On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. (37) Some faces that Day will be beaming, (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) And many will be dust-begrimed, (40) Blackness overcoming them. (41) these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! (42)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
