He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, (1) Because a blind man came to him. (2) How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, (3) or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) you eagerly attended to him -- (6) although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) And to him who came to you eagerly (8) And hath fear, (9) From him thou art distracted. (10) NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: (11) So whoso wills may give heed to it. (12) In honored books, (13) exalted, purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; (17) Out of what did Allah create him? (18) From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, (19) Then He eased the way for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: (24) That We watered it in abundance. (25) Then We split the earth properly. (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and herbage (28) Olives and dates, (29) And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, (30) And fruits and grass, (31) For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (32) Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), (33) on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. (37) Some faces that Day will be beaming, (38) laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. (39) some faces on that day shall be dusty (40) Veiled in darkness, (41) Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. (42)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
