He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) You pay full attention, (6) although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) but as for one who comes to you, eagerly (8) and fearfully, (9) you ignore him. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) Exalted, pure. (14) In the hands of scribes (angels). (15) noble and purified. (16) [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! (17) From what stuff hath He created him? (18) Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, (19) Then doth He make His path smooth for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) then, He will raise him when He wills. (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Let Man consider his nourishment. (24) That We watered it in abundance. (25) Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, (26) And produce therein corn, (27) And grapes and clover, (28) and olives and palms, (29) and gardens dense with foliage, (30) and fruits and pastures (31) For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (32) And when the Blast shall sound, (33) Man will fly from his brother, (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) his wife and his children. (36) Each man will have enough cares that day. (37) Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). (38) and be cheerful and joyous. (39) And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. (40) Blackness overcoming them. (41) Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). (42)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
