He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? (4) As for him who was indifferent, (5) To him do you address yourself. (6) And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) And he feareth (9) From him will you divert yourself. (10) No indeed; this is only a Reminder. (11) So let him who pleases mind it. (12) It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, (13) Exalted and purified, (14) [borne] by the hands of messengers (15) Who are noble, virtuous. (16) May man be slain how ungrateful he is! (17) From what thing did He create him? (18) From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, (19) and then makes it easy for him to go through life; (20) Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (21) then, when He wills, He raises him. (22) Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. (23) Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): (24) We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, (25) and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, (26) And caused to grow within it grain (27) And grapes and clover, (28) And olives and palms (29) And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, (30) And fruits and grasses: (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) When the trumpet sounds, (33) upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) his wife and his children. (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) Some faces that Day will be beaming, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And many will be dust-begrimed, (40) Darkness will cover them, (41) these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
