He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because there came unto him a blind man. (2) And what do you know, he may be of the pure! (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? (4) As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient (5) To him you attend; (6) though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. (7) And to him who came to you eagerly (8) And hath fear, (9) Him thou neglectest! (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) In honored books, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? (17) Of what [stuff] has He created him? (18) From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, (19) Then the way He made easy. (20) then causes him to die and buries him, (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Let Man consider his nourishment. (24) We send down abundant water, (25) Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], (26) then caused the grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and herbage (28) And olives and palms (29) And gardens, dense with many trees, (30) and fruits and pastures (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) But when the deafening cry shall be sounded (33) it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (39) And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, (40) Covered with the blackness (of shame): (41) Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
