He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) when the blind came to him. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? (4) For him who does not care, (5) Unto him thou payest regard. (6) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (7) But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (8) And with fear (in his heart), (9) From him you are distracted. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) So whoever wills may remember it. (12) (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, (13) uplifted, purified, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) noble and pious. (16) Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; (17) Of what did He create him? (18) Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, (19) Then He makes the Path easy for him; (20) Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; (21) Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. (22) By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. (23) So man must look at his food. (24) For that We pour forth water in abundance, (25) and let the earth to break open (26) And We made corn grow, (27) And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), (28) olives, dates, (29) Orchards thick with trees, (30) And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), (31) In order to benefit you and your cattle. (32) But when the deafening cry shall be sounded (33) On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) As well as his wife and children. (36) for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. (37) (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. (40) with darkness overspread: (41) those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
