He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As for he who is sufficed (5) You pay full attention, (6) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (7) And as for him who cometh unto thee running, (8) And hath fear, (9) So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! (10) No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; (11) So whoso wills may give heed to it. (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) Exalted and holy, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) Noble, virtuous. (16) Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; (17) From what has God created him? (18) From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; (19) Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) (20) then causes him to die and buries him, (21) and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. (22) Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. (23) Then let man look at his food, (24) That We watered it in abundance. (25) and let the earth to break open (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and herbage (28) And olive-trees and palm-trees (29) And enclosed gardens luxuriant. (30) And fruits and grass, (31) In order to benefit you and your cattle. (32) And when the Blast shall sound, (33) Man will fly from his brother, (34) And from his mother and father, (35) his wife and his children. (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) Some faces will shine, (38) laughing and joyful, (39) And many will be dust-begrimed, (40) Covered with the blackness (of shame): (41) these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
