Juz 30
He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) from a blind man who had come up to him. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As for he who is sufficed (5) You pay full attention, (6) Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). (7) And as to him who comes to you striving hard, (8) and who has fear of God, (9) you pay him no heed. (10) Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, (11) So whoever wishes may remember it. (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) Exalted (in dignity), purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! (17) From what thing did He create him? (18) From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, (19) He makes his path easy for him. (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). (22) Yet man declines to do His bidding. (23) Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: (24) [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; (25) and split the earth, splitting, (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and vegetables (28) and olive trees and date-palms, (29) And dense gardens, (30) And fruits and grasses: (31) For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (32) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (33) on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, (34) mother, father, (35) his wife and his sons: (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) Many faces will that day be bright, (38) laughing, joyous; (39) And many will be dust-begrimed, (40) with darkness overspread: (41) It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
