He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away (1) from a blind man who had come up to him. (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? (4) As for him who is not in want of any thing, (5) So you are after him! (6) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) And is also fearful (of God), (9) Him thou neglectest! (10) Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) upon pages high-honoured, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and obedient. (16) Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! (17) Of what thing did He create him? (18) From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, (19) and then makes it easy for him to go through life; (20) Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (21) Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. (22) Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. (23) Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. (24) how We pour down rain in abundance, (25) Then split the earth in clefts (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and clover, (28) and olive trees and date palms (29) And gardens, dense with many trees, (30) And fruits and herbage: (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But when the Shout cometh (33) on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) And from his wife and sons. (36) on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. (37) Some faces that Day will be beaming, (38) laughing, and rejoicing, (39) some faces on that day shall be dusty (40) Blackness will cover them: (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
