He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, (1) Because a blind man came to him. (2) But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified (3) or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. (4) As for him who was indifferent, (5) To him you attend; (6) Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). (7) but as for one who comes to you, eagerly (8) And with fear (in his heart), (9) you pay him no heed. (10) By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: (11) Let him who will, pay heed to it. (12) upon pages high-honoured, (13) Exalted, Purified, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) Noble and dutiful. (16) Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; (17) Out of what did Allah create him? (18) From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. (19) Then He eased the way for him; (20) Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, (21) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. (24) We poured out the rains abundantly, (25) and then We cleaved the earth asunder. (26) to yield therein corn, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) Olives and dates, (29) Orchards thick with trees, (30) And fruit and grass - (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) So when the deafening Shout arrives, (33) on that Day each person will flee from his brother, (34) Mother and father, (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. (37) Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (39) And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, (40) Blackness will cover them: (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. (42)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
