He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, (1) because the blind man approached him! (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) To him dost thou attend; (6) Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). (7) As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), (8) and fearfully, (9) you ignore him. (10) No indeed; this is only a Reminder. (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) On honoured leaves (13) Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, (14) by the hands of the noble, virtuous, (15) Noble and dutiful. (16) May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? (17) From what substance did He create him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) Then the way He made easy. (20) then causes him to die and buries him, (21) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. (22) But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. (23) Let the human reflect on the food he eats, (24) That We watered it in abundance. (25) and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) and vines, and reeds, (28) And the olive and the palm, (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) And fruits and grasses: (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- (33) On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) And his wife and his sons; (36) on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. (37) Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (39) And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, (40) Blackness will cover them: (41) It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
