He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, (1) Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) to a rich man, (6) though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- (7) but as for one who comes to you, eagerly (8) and in awe [of God] (9) From him will you divert yourself. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. (12) (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). (13) Exalted (in dignity), purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) noble and purified. (16) May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? (17) From what did He create him? (18) Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, (19) He makes his path easy for him. (20) Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. (21) Then He will raise him up again when He please. (22) Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. (23) Let the human reflect on the food he eats, (24) How We pour water in showers (25) Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) together with grapes and vegetables, (28) And olive-trees and palm-trees (29) And enclosed gardens luxuriant. (30) And fruits and herbage (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) But when the Shout cometh (33) On the Day a man will flee from his brother (34) Mother and father, (35) As well as his wife and children. (36) Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). (37) Many faces will that day be bright, (38) Laughing and full of joy, (39) And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, (40) with darkness overspread: (41) Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
