He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). (2) You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, (3) Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? (4) Now he who waxes indifferent, (5) to him thou attendest (6) And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. (7) But as to him who came to you running. (8) And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), (9) you ignore him. (10) Not this way this is the advice. (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) (Set down) by scribes (15) noble, pious. (16) Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! (17) Of what [stuff] has He created him? (18) Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, (19) Then maketh the way easy for him, (20) Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; (21) Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. (22) Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. (23) Let man reflect on the food he eats. (24) For that We pour forth water in abundance, (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) And We made corn grow, (27) And grapes and vegetables (28) And the olive and the palm, (29) and gardens dense with foliage, (30) and fruits and fodder (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) But when the deafening blast is sounded, (33) on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, (34) mother, father, (35) and from his spouse and his children: (36) Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) Laughing, joyous. (39) but some faces will be covered with dust (40) Blackness will cover them: (41) Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
