He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because the blind man had come in his august presence. (2) How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, (3) or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. (4) Yet you pay attention (5) To him dost thou attend; (6) although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; (7) but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness (8) And with fear (in his heart), (9) From him you are distracted. (10) Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. (11) so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. (12) upon highly honored pages, (13) exalted, purified, (14) [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, (15) noble, pious. (16) Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! (17) From what did He create him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) and then makes it easy for him to go through life; (20) Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (21) Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) (22) Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. (23) Let the human reflect on the food he eats, (24) [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; (25) and split the earth, splitting, (26) And We made corn grow, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) And olive and palm trees (29) and dense orchards, (30) and fruits and pastures (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (33) upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) And his spouse and his son-- (36) Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) laughing, and rejoicing, (39) And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. (40) Dust shall cover them (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
