He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) because the blind man approached him! (2) And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) you eagerly attended to him -- (6) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). (7) And for him who came to you striving, (8) And hath fear, (9) You neglect. (10) NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: (11) So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. (12) upon highly honored pages, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) and angelic scribes. (16) [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, (19) Then made his passage easy (at birth); (20) Then He causes him to die and be buried. (21) Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. (22) No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. (23) Let the human reflect on the food he eats, (24) That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, (25) then We split the earth in fissures (26) Then We cause to grow therein the grain, (27) And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), (28) and the olive, and the palm, (29) And thick gardens, (30) And fruits and grasses: (31) [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. (32) But when the great calamity comes (33) on that Day each person will flee from his brother, (34) And from his mother and father, (35) And his wife and his children, (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) Some faces on that day shall shine (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. (40) o'erspread with darkness -- (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
