He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) you attended to him, (6) though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- (7) But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (8) And is also fearful (of God), (9) him didst thou disregard! (10) By no means! Verily it is an admonition. (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, (13) exalted, purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! (17) From what has God created him? (18) Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, (19) Then the way He made easy. (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). (22) Yet man declines to do His bidding. (23) Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. (24) That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, (25) and then We cleaved the earth asunder. (26) And We made corn grow, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) And olive and palm trees (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) fruits, and grass. (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) Then when cometh the Deafening Cry (33) The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, (34) his mother, his father, (35) And his wife and his sons; (36) on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- (37) Some faces on that day will be radiant, (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) but some faces will be covered with dust (40) and covered by darkness. (41) Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). (42)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
