He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because there came unto him a blind man. (2) But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) Yet you pay attention (5) to a rich man, (6) though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) and who has fear of God, (9) You neglect. (10) NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) It is set down on honoured pages, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) (Set down) by scribes (15) noble and virtuous scribes. (16) Perish the human! How unthankful he is! (17) From what substance did He create him? (18) Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, (19) Then made his passage easy (at birth); (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) then, when He wills, He raises him. (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): (24) We poured down rain abundantly, (25) And We split the earth in clefts, (26) And We made corn grow, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) And olive and palm trees (29) and dense orchards, (30) And fruit and grass - (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) And his mother and his father, (35) and his consort and his children; (36) Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. (37) Some faces will shine, (38) Laughing and full of joy, (39) And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; (40) and veiled with darkness. (41) those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
