He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? (4) Yet you pay attention (5) to a rich man, (6) And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. (7) And as for him who cometh unto thee running, (8) and in awe [of God] (9) So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! (10) Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. (11) So let him who pleases mind it. (12) It is set down on honoured pages, (13) lofty and pure, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! (17) Of what substance God created him? (18) Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. (19) then eased his path for him, (20) Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. (21) Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. (22) Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. (23) Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: (24) For that We pour forth water in abundance, (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) Then We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and herbage, (28) Olives and dates, (29) And gardens, dense with many trees, (30) And fruits and herbage (31) as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. (32) But when the deafening blast is sounded, (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) his mother and his father, (35) his consort, his sons, (36) for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. (37) [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) some faces on that day shall be dusty (40) and overcast with gloom: (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
