He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, (1) from a blind man who had come up to him. (2) And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. (3) or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) you attend to him, (6) And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. (7) But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (8) And he fears, (9) You neglect. (10) No indeed, this is a Reminder; (11) Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. (12) [It is recorded] in honored sheets, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) [borne] by the hands of messengers (15) noble and virtuous scribes. (16) May man be slain how ungrateful he is! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, (19) and then made the course of life easy for him, (20) and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; (21) then, when He wills, He raises him. (22) Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. (23) Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. (24) We send down abundant water, (25) and then We cleaved the earth asunder. (26) We make the grain grow out of it, (27) And Grapes and nutritious plants, (28) And olive-trees and palm-trees (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) and fruit and pastures, (31) For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (32) And when the Blast shall sound, (33) That Day shall a man flee from his brother, (34) Mother and father, (35) his wife and his children. (36) for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. (37) On that day faces will be bright as dawn, (38) laughing, joyous; (39) And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; (40) Dust shall cover them (41) those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
