He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). (2) What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, (3) or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) To him do you address yourself. (6) although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), (8) And hath fear, (9) From him you are distracted. (10) No indeed; this is only a Reminder. (11) So let whosoever will pay heed to it, (12) in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, (13) most exalted and purified, (14) Written by the hands of emissaries. (15) noble and most virtuous. (16) Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; (17) From what did He create him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) Then He makes the Path easy for him; (20) He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). (22) Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) How We poured down water in torrents, (25) Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], (26) then caused the grain to grow out of it, (27) and vines and edible plants, (28) and olives and palms, (29) And enclosed gardens luxuriant. (30) and fruits and pastures (31) (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. (32) But when the great calamity comes (33) On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (34) And his mother and his father (35) and from his spouse and his children: (36) Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. (37) On that day faces will be bright as dawn, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). (39) And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, (40) with darkness overspread: (41) Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. (42)
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
