He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) Unto him thou attendest. (6) although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. (7) And as to him who comes to you striving hard, (8) And hath fear, (9) him didst thou disregard! (10) No indeed; it is a Reminder (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) On honoured leaves (13) exalted, purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) Honourable and Pious and Just. (16) May man be slain how ungrateful he is! (17) From what thing did He create him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) Then eased the way for him. (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) then, He will raise him when He wills. (22) Yet man declines to do His bidding. (23) Let man reflect on the food he eats. (24) How We pour water in showers (25) Then We split the earth properly. (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) And olive-trees and palm-trees (29) And thick gardens, (30) And fruits and herbage: (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (33) on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, (34) and his mother and his father; (35) And his wife and his children, (36) on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. (37) on that Day some faces will be beaming, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; (40) Darkness shall cover them. (41) These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. (42)
God the Almighty always says the truth.
