He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) (3) Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? (4) As for he who thinks himself without need, (5) Unto him thou attendest. (6) Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! (10) Nay! surely it is an admonishment. (11) For any one who desires to bear it in mind, (12) [It is recorded] in honored sheets, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) by the hands of scribes (15) Honourable and Virtuous. (16) Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! (17) Of what thing did He create him? (18) From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. (19) Then He makes the Path easy for him; (20) and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). (22) Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. (23) Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. (24) We let the rain pour down in torrents (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) Then We cause to grow therein the grain, (27) And grapes and fodder, (28) and the olive, and the palm, (29) and gardens dense with foliage, (30) and fruits and fodder (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But, when the Blast comes, (33) That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, (34) and from his mother and father, (35) And his wife and his children, (36) on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. (37) Some faces will shine, (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. (40) enveloped by darkness. (41) They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
